How it works

A practical route to making space for wildlife.

Community Nature Reserve is designed to make community conservation understandable and doable. You do not need specialist knowledge or a large garden to begin.

01

Make a little room

Choose an achievable wildlife-friendly action for the space you have. It might be planting for pollinators, leaving a sheltered corner, adding water, or creating a route through a boundary.

02

Register your patch

Share a broad location and the type of space you manage. We do not ask for your full address, and detailed habitat information is optional.

03

Learn, share, and connect

Use our guidance to keep building habitat over time. When more people take action nearby, small places can become a more connected network for wildlife.

For every kind of space

Start with what is possible.

Balconies and window boxes

Small and larger gardens

Allotments and shared growing spaces

Schools, care settings and community land
